In short
- Flik has no accounts and no server of its own. We do not collect personal data.
- Your learning (progress, settings, results) is stored only on your device.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party data tools.
- Apple handles all payments. We never see your card details or Apple ID.
- The speaking exercise uses Apple’s speech recognition — details below.
1. Who is responsible
The Flik app and learnflik.com are made and published by their author (“we”). For anything related to privacy, write to kontakt@learnflik.com.
2. What stays on your device
To make learning work, Flik stores on your iPhone or iPad:
- your learning progress — which words you know, when they are due for review, lesson results, your streak, league points and achievements,
- app settings and your first name if you enter it during setup (used only to address you),
- the start date of the 7-day trial — in the device keychain, so the trial can be used once per device,
- data for the Home Screen widget — within your device.
This data is not sent anywhere and we have no access to it. League rivals are virtual characters generated by the app on your device.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
Payments, subscriptions and refunds are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Flik only receives from the system whether you have an active Premium plan. We never see your name, email address, Apple ID or card details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Microphone and speech recognition
The microphone is used only in the speaking exercise and only after you allow it in the system. The spoken word is recognised by Apple’s system speech recognition:
- if your device supports it, recognition happens entirely on the device,
- if not, the recording of the word is sent to Apple solely to recognise it, under Apple’s terms.
Flik does not store recordings or send them anywhere. You can skip the speaking exercise at any time and revoke microphone access in the system Settings.
5. Camera and photos of text
You can take a photo of a text so that Flik picks out words to learn. The text is read by your device and the photo is not sent anywhere. The camera is used only when you open it and allow access.
6. Other features
- Reminders are notifications scheduled on your device. We do not use a push notification server.
- Daily stories and sentences are generated by Apple’s on-device language model (where available).
- Progress backup to a file is created only when you save it. You decide where it is stored and who gets it.
- Word lists shared as a link contain only the list title and the words, and reach only the people you send them to.
- Reporting a mistake opens a ready email in your mail app, with details of the word it concerns and a short list of words you find difficult. You see the full message before sending, and we receive it only if you send it (see section 8).
The current version of Flik does not use iCloud. If that changes, we will update this policy before the new version reaches the App Store.
7. What we don’t do
- We don’t create accounts or ask for your email.
- We don’t use analytics, ads, tracking or the advertising identifier.
- We don’t sell or share data with anyone.
- We don’t include third-party tools in the app that would collect data.
8. When you contact us
If you write to kontakt@learnflik.com or send a mistake report from the app, we receive your email address and the message (for reports — including the word details added to it). We use them only to reply and to improve the app (our legitimate interest). We delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
9. The learnflik.com website
The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and loads no fonts from other servers. The hosting company that serves the site may briefly log technical connection data (such as IP address and time of visit) for security and operation. We do not use it to identify or profile visitors.
10. Children
Flik does not collect personal data, so it does not collect it from children either. Purchases on a child’s account may require a parent’s approval through Apple’s Ask to Buy.
11. Your rights and deleting data
Your learning data lives only on your device, so you are fully in control: deleting the app deletes it. The system may keep the trial date in the device keychain even after the app is deleted.
Regarding your correspondence with us, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict processing and to object. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl).
12. Changes to this policy
If Flik starts working differently, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the App Store release notes.
